Subject: Firmware upgrade SMC2532W-B

Hi Jun,

don't know if you're still updating the firmware page,
but here's my experience. Feel free to add it to the page.

I have a SMC2532W-B card, it came with firmware 1.4.9.
I flashed the secondary firmware to version 1.8.4, both
the test (no "-f" option) and the actual download to
flash (with "-f" option) went ok.

The card appeared to work fine (ifconfig and the various
wireless tools - iwconfig, iwlist, etc. - worked without
problem), but, for some reason, I could not get an IP
address from the wireless network of my campus.
This was strange, because I never had a problem with
DHCP ("dhcpcd wlanX"). I also tried another card to
check if it was a WLAN problem, but the other card
could get the address immediately.

So I flashed the card with secondary firmware 1.7.4,
and now I can get the IP address again.

Don't really know what was going on with 1.8.4, but
1.7.4 seems to work smoothly...

bye,

Marco
